 YOU CAN DO SPORT
 RUGBY ACADEMY

You will experience between 8-10hrs per week of skills-based training from professionals in the game.

Our highly experienced Rugby coaches and staff share your passion for Sport and have been involved in the game at some of the highest achievable levels themselves - from players, to coaches to managers. This places them in an unparalleled position to help students develop their skill, equip them with the right, positive attitude, and mind-set to overcome challenges and to teach them invaluable skills and qualities they can use throughout their lives.

Our advanced coaching programmes, both indoor and outdoor cover strength and conditioning, technical, tactical, physical, psychological, and social development, and individual performance analysis.

This is an unparalleled opportunity for students with a keen and active interest in rugby or sport more broadly. Be it as a relative beginner or as a former academy player capable of playing at semi-professional and elite levels.

The Rugby programme is based across two sites, Magnus CoE Academy and the Newark Rugby Club. Having recently undergone a £1.2 million pound redevelopment, students benefit from some of the best rugby club facilities in the East Midlands.

Designed to support your current club commitments and development as a player, rugby students play regular friendlies, both home and away, as part of the AoC Sport East Midlands Rugby League.  This extra time and support in training will allow students to flourish at club/county level and higher.

Training will focus on personal performance and development, including those areas listed below. The prom frame is run similar to the elite player development groups as our coaches have worked in this format across county, regional and club level in the Midlands.

“I want to wish Newark Rugby Club the best of luck with their new collaboration with Magnus School. Rugby has the power to inspire but more importantly to provide vital life skills to prepare young people for the next step.”
Lewis Moody MBE, Former England International

"I’m delighted the club is starting its own ruby academy to give new opportunities to young people in the town and surrounding area. As a former player at the club, I remember very affectionately my time at the club and how it helped launch my professional rugby career. I look forward to supporting the initiative and following its progress."
Dusty Hare, Former England International
